The Sebastian Schemmel Legacy Fund is proud to offer the 2026 Tom Schemmel Mental Health Champion Scholarship, awarded to an outstanding Zionsville Community High School senior who demonstrates a strong commitment to mental health awareness, advocacy, and support.
This scholarship honors the life and legacy of W. Thomas “Tom” Schemmel, a U.S. Army veteran, civic leader, and dedicated member of his community. Tom was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to serving others through his work in education, veteran support, church leadership, and public service. His impact continues to inspire this scholarship and the values it represents.
To apply, download and complete the application below. Then share your story through a 500–750 word essay or a 3-minute video about a time mental health—your own or someone else’s—played an important role in your life. Reflect on what you learned and how it has shaped your perspective, actions, or growth.
